Helen Groenekamp's formal training in fine art started at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. After moving to California she continued her studies at Art Students League in Los Angeles and also studied in various individual workshops given by notable artists.

Helen enjoyed her full time art teacher position in a private school for 16 years. Yearning to concentrate on her creative skills, she proceeded to paint outdoors full time for a period of two years. Her discipline served her well when in 2011, she was selected as one of the top 200 representational artists in the "Arts in the Parks" national competition in Jackson Hole, WY. Helen has won numerous awards for her beautiful landscapes and has shown her works at the California Heritage Museum in Santa Monica.

Helen is a member of Women's Painters West, National Watercolor Society, Pacific Art Guild, Watercolor West, and Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore.
